Meet runs in your browser, so if your mic, camera and speakers pass here in the same browser, they will work in Meet once the right devices are picked.

| Where | How |

| Before joining | In the green room, click the three-dot menu > Settings > Audio / Video, or "Check your audio and video". |
| In a call | Click the ^ arrow beside the microphone or camera button and choose the device. |
| Browser permission | Click the camera icon (or lock) at the right of the address bar and allow meet.google.com. |
Menu names change between versions; if one has moved, the device settings are always under the app's Settings > Audio/Video (or Voice & Video, or Devices).
Other call apps: Zoom test · Microsoft Teams test · Discord test
Meet has no dedicated test number, but the pre-join "green room" shows your camera preview and a mic level, and "Check your audio and video" records a short clip you can play back. This page adds per-channel speaker checks, measured resolution and frame rate, and a shareable report.
Usually another app or tab is using the camera, or the browser has no permission. Close other video apps, allow the camera for meet.google.com in site settings, and on macOS allow your browser under System Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
Meet is set to a different microphone. In the call, click the ^ arrow beside the mic button and select the microphone that passed here. Also check you are not muted by a headset switch.
